1 Simple Strategy I Used to Make the Most of ChatGPT (Exact Prompting)

I asked ChatGPT to suggest me how it can be my best assistant possible and then religiously came back to give it tasks daily. That's the best advice I can give you.
But let me elaborate on that.
When I first started using ChatGPT, I was overwhelmed by all the possibilities. Should I use it for writing? For coding? For research? The answer is: all of the above, but you need a strategy.
The Strategy
The key is to treat ChatGPT as your personal assistant. But not just any assistant - one that needs to understand you deeply to serve you better.
Here's the exact prompt I used:
"I want you to be my personal AI assistant. What information about me would help you assist me better? Ask me questions one by one to understand my needs, preferences, and how I work best."
This simple approach changed everything. ChatGPT started asking me about:
- My work and responsibilities
- My communication style preferences
- The types of tasks I frequently need help with
- My time zone and schedule
The Daily Habit
The second part of the strategy is equally important: come back every day. Make it a habit to give ChatGPT tasks.
Start with small things:
- Ask it to help you draft an email
- Have it explain a concept you're learning
- Use it to brainstorm ideas for a project
The more you use it, the more natural it becomes, and the more value you'll extract from it.
Why This Works
Most people use ChatGPT sporadically and expect magic. But like any tool, its power grows with consistent use and understanding.
By having ChatGPT understand you first, and then using it daily, you create a feedback loop that makes every interaction more valuable.
Try it today. Ask ChatGPT how it can be your best assistant, and commit to giving it at least one task every day for the next week.
